Edentulous Patients in the Digital Era
German Gallucci
Treatment of edentulous patients with fixed implant rehabilitations has been largely discussed in peer review publications and scientific meetings worldwide. This is in part due to the vast scientific evidence harvested since the beginning of implant dentistry on this specific clinical indication. Today, several protocols for reducing treatment time and improving prosthodontic design are being proposed; however, scientific evidence of modern clinical trials calls for a critical assessment. Treatment sequence will be presented and categorized according to their corresponding prosthetic designs and the choice of restorative mateials. This lecture intends to present in a systematic way clinical, scientific, and implant related information leading to translational clinical recommendations in the treatment of edentulous jaws with fixed prosthesis.
Objectives:
- To assess different implant prosthodontic designs and related restorative materials
- To discuss clinical protocols to treat edentulous patients with fixed prosthesis
- To evaluate long-term treatment outcome

Soft Tissue Grafting – Implications for Peri-implant Tissue Health and Esthetics
Frank Schwarz
The clinical relevance of soft tissue grafting has emerged over recent years. In fact, considerably evidence has pointed to the effectiveness of soft tissue grafts in the prevention of peri-implant diseases as well as esthetic complications. This workshop will provide fundamental insights into indication based surgical techniques and materials for the following major areas:
Objectives:
- Keratinized mucosa
- Peri-implant mucosal thickness
- Soft tissue dehiscences
- Peri-implantitis related defects

Placement & Loading Protocols in the Digital Era
German Gallucci
During this lecture, clinical considerations and indications for dental implants will be analyzed in the context of their direct application to implant-prosthetic rehabilitations using digital technology. Risk assessment, treatment planning, placement and loading protocols and esthetic/prosthodontic rehabilitations will be discussed in detail according to different clinical situations. Recommended planning steps and treatment procedures will be presented through scientific evidence. Modern Implant-prosthetic restorations using different implant designs and digital technology call for a harmonious integration with the pre-existing environment. In this context, biologic considerations affecting normal peri-implant soft tissue integration will be discussed as a major esthetic parameter.
Objectives:
- Familiarize with current trends in digital implant dentistry
- Assess placement and Loading protocols for suitable treatment planning
- Widen treatment planning options using a selective approach

Guided Bone Regeneration 2.0 to Master Advanced Clinical Indications
Frank Schwarz
Clinicians should be aware that lateral and vertical ridge augmentation procedures were shown to be effective, however, are highly demanding therapies, requiring surgical training, experience, and skills.
Many fine-tuning efforts have been made for various surgical procedures to facilitate and broaden their clinical applications. The latest innovations are focused on the advancement of Guided Bone Regeneration to master advanced clinical indications.
Objectives:
- Simplified Flap design and soft tissue advancement
- Simplified GBR protocols for staged lateral- and vertical grafting (Balloon Technique)
- Suturing techniques

Esthetics in the Digital Era
German Gallucci
During this lecture, clinical considerations and indications for dental implants will be analyzed in the context of their direct application to esthetic implant-prosthetic rehabilitations. Risk assessment, treatment planning, surgical protocols and esthetic/prosthodontic rehabilitations will be discussed in detail according to different clinical situations. Recommended planning steps and treatment procedures will be presented through scientific evidence. Modern Implant-prosthetic restorations using different implant designs and digital technology call for a harmonious esthetic integration with the pre-existing environment. A scalloped gingival line with distinct papillae and free of any abrupt vertical differences in clinical crown length between anterior implants, is paramount. In this context, biologic considerations affecting normal peri-implant soft tissue integration will be discussed as a major esthetic parameter.
Objectives:
- Familiarize with current trends in esthetic implant dentistry
- Assess associated risk factor for suitable treatment planning
- Widen treatment planning options using a selective approach

Management of Peri-implantitis
Frank Schwarz
Substantial evidence suggests that non-surgical therapy has a limited efficacy to arrest disease progression, thus indicating the necessity of a surgical intervention in the majority of patients diagnosed with peri-implantitis.
This course will summarize and critically evaluate current protocols suggested for the surgical treatment of peri-implantitis. Particular emphasis will be on reconstructive and combined surgical measures.
Objectives:
- Implant surface decontamination protocols
- Surgical techniques and materials for reconstructive therapy of Class I defects
- Combined- and modified combined therapy for advanced Class III defects
- Soft tissue volume grafting for the prevention of postoperative mucosal recessions
- Implant removal and implant site development
